Cardiology Services - Dr. James A. Heinsimer

Learn about Cardiology Services

Dr. James A. Heinsimer takes care of patients at each visit in his practice in the hospital or the office, solely. As an internist AND cardiologist. Dr. Heinsimer is capable of handling all of the cardiology needs of his patients and many of the Internal medicine issues as well. This means better continuity of care and less "silo medicine" where the patient have to go to numerous doctors for care.

Most cardiologists only handle cardiac aspects of patients and rely on other doctors to coordinate their care among several doctors. Also, most cardiology practices have different doctors seeing the patient in the office or hospital. In contrast, Dr. Heinsimer sees all of his own patients providing continuity of care (with excellent coverage if he is on vacation).

Dr. Heinsimer is able to provide care for a wide range of General and Internal Medical problems, in addition to Cardiology. Patients can have a primary care provider (PCP) or not depending on situation. If you do not have a PCP or prefer not to have a PCP, Dr. Heinsimer will act as PCP.

Spending time as needed with every patient, Dr. Heinsimer cares for every individual patient. On average, he spends 2-3 times longer with patients than most cardiologists. There are no physician assistants (PA), nurse practitioners, or rotating doctors. Furthermore, he sees patients himself, in the hospital. These hospitals include Beaumont Royal Oak and St Joseph Mercy Oakland in Pontiac.

The emphasis of Dr. James A. Heinsimer practice is preventive and non-invasive with a goal of keeping folks out of the hospital; while avoiding surgery and procedures, such as angioplasty or stenting while emphasizing wellness and risk factor modification.

Preventive and Non-invasive

Advanced non-invasive cardiology imaging technologies, such as, ultrasound and nuclear tracer imaging have dramatically improved early detection and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Patients who are at risk for heart disease are well-served by the enhanced capabilities offered by the technology available today. Non-invasive cardiology techniques are typically safe and painless, and allow you to resume normal activities almost immediately.

Preventive and non-invasive means high quality, cost effective, diagnostic evaluations for patients. Services and equipment providing advanced non-invasive methods and technologies to diagnose heart disease. Well-maintained state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, and the commitment of Dr. James A. Heinsimer to care for patients.
